Get Excited for the Wisconsin Fishing Opener on May 1st!

It’s been an interesting Spring with waves of warm weather often followed by winter-like conditions and a bit of snow. Overall, though, most lakes lost their ice earlier than usual and fish seem to be spawning a bit earlier.

So many people are excited for the Wisconsin inland fishing opener coming up on May 1st! Most lakes Up North in Wisconsin support a variety of fish, such as Northern Pike, Muskellunge, Large and Smallmouth Bass, Trout and Walleye, and most have public access.

Some of the more popular fishing lakes around our area include:

  • Big Arbor Vitae Lake
  • Carrol and Clear Lake
  • Madeline Lake
  • Squirrel Lake
  • Squaw Lake

Remember that Muskie season Up North doesn’t open until May 29th and season-opening dates are often specific to the species of fish as well as the water body. Click here to check the guide to hook and line fishing season dates for 2021.

And don’t forget to buy your Wisconsin fishing license!
